You are yourself
your own barrier to perception of the cosmic meaning of this note. Perhaps
you are more concerned about your physical, everyday self
than you are about cosmic meanings.
Do you know the difference
between information and knowledge?
For instance, a list of books for sale on the Web on
the subjects of Zen, Yoga or the Sufis would be information.
Knowing which book you should deeply and thoroughly study and
meditate on until its important meanings and know-how have
become your own would be knowledge.
People will select and read books at random on serious
subjects because (A) they cannot afford to buy all the
books to go through them carefully as to what requires deep
study, and (B) they do not know what they really want or why
they would have this or that want, which would include thinking
they want something when actually they do not want it at all
and will find themselves putting it off once it is in their
hands. Have you ever seen a faulty selection process
at work in yourself through not knowing
the difference between information and knowledge?
Here is a new challenge
for you in this Note:
How much do you believe that you need to be heavily indoctrinated
in a line of thinking to be able to master it? Also,
how much do you require that a study or training course give
you regular emotional arousal to keep up your interest, attention
and commitment? Try to answer these questions sincerely
to yourself before you read the next note.
Can you think of any situations you have observed where
teachers have imagined they know how to teach and students have
imagined they know how to learn, but where both teachers and
students believed in indoctrination, emotional arousal or both?
This note
demands that you become more clear about how learning takes
place in the Cosmic School of Notes before the next session.
Can you get this clarification? Will you
get it?
