Here you are at
another Note at
the beginning of another Note Session.
And this beginning reflects
your own starting point, your own place of beginning within
yourself that creates all your trips, all your attempts to escape
or keep busy or get to some personal achievement, whether the
achievement is to be mundane or other-worldly. Therefore
as we go along the idea will be to not leave this beginning,
this starting point, whether outwardly or inwardly, but to illuminate it.
The illumination of the
starting point is what is called “beginner’s
mind” in Zen. You may have heard about this. The
real meaning is that “advanced practitioners” build
up knowledge and various experiences over the years in their
dedicated attempts to practice Zen and gain enlightenment,
but they do not become enlightened because they seek an enlightenment
away from and beyond their starting point, beyond their “beginner’s
mind”. Enlightenment is the
illumination of our starting point. Try to actually understand
this before going on a Zen trip or any other seemingly significant
traditional trip.
This note
requires illumination of your starting point to flare-up
with greater intensity whether you are sitting, standing,
going about or lying down. It has very little to do
with sitting in a rigid approved sitting posture and calling
that rigidity an “enlightened expression
of your self-nature”. Such traditional Japanese
recommendations are nothing more than the shit of domesticated
dogs. Any “enlightened
expression of self-nature” is innately free, unpredictable,
natural and impossible for imitators to conform to. Your
real opportunity is to illuminate your starting point and avoid
traditional Zen and useless rigid conformity to Japanese idiots
with bald heads and black robes. Strangely, however,
adopting this illumination of your starting point is what real Zen
has always been about. So, make sure you are doing real Zen
before the next note or the universe
may have to take some action about you as an awful Power!
You cannot actually decide
to illuminate your starting point or avoid such illumination. Zen
Power alone decides about illumination or avoiding illumination.
The next note
is now mysteriously available if it is needed for something.
Zen Power is the aspect of Power that is engaged in the sudden
illumination of where you are really coming from in all this.
Forget about “Zen
Power” and
penetrate your starting point totally without further delay.
Do not read the next note,
if you know what is good for you! This is no idle threat.
This note decrees that you obviously
do not know what is good for you.
Since you have decided
you are your own Teacher now with some sort of “free will” of your own decisions,
go write yourself a “note” before you read the next note.
To paraphrase the French poet, Rimbaud: “I
piss on your Note from a great height!”
You have no choice whatsoever
about your sudden predicament here that all this has been
leading you into for a long time.
So, try to avoid reading the next note.
“Curiosity
killed the cat.” How
do you interpret this old saying in your immediate predicament
about Notes?
The next note session is probably
something more stimulating about your starting point to help
you feel you can really belong to the way of sudden Zen enlightenment
without having to visit a Zen monastery.
